Spring Beauty Favorites: tarte Cosmetics

04 March 2015

As many of you know, I am quite set in my makeup routine and am certainly no beauty guru. Red lip, cateye, peachy blush and I’m good to go. This spring though I am really excited to try out some new color palettes, starting with one of my favorite cosmetic lines, tarte ! So I wanted to share with you 8 of my top favorites from the line.

It’s been ages since I have put any shade of pink on these lips, but this season I am pumped to try it out. Change is good right? I am obsessed with tarte’s lip tint colors in Charmed (light pink), Enchanted (magenta),  and Joy (peach). I can see myself wearing all of these on a breezy spring day. Another favorite tarte product I love is their full coverage foundation. I am terrible at re-applying throughout the day, however their foundation keeps me in check all day without the hassle of worrying about touch-ups… pretty perfect for anyone on the go if you ask me. For spring I am also stoked on rose and dusty pink blush. Lately I have been sticking to a dash of bronzer, however I am so looking forward to rocking these bright and cheery tones! As far as mascara goes, I have been obsessed with tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes mascara. I hardly ever wear fake lashes, as much as I want to, I just never seem to apply it correctly! This mascara however does the trick. Basically fake lashes in a tube, haha. And lastly the tarte product I am obsessing over the most is their precision eyeliner. One thing that I do not see changing in my makeup routine anytime soon is of course, the cat eye. I can’t help it, I have become so accustomed to it, I almost feel naked without one! This liner is great for getting that perfect winged tip.

So there you have it, a roundup of my favorite beauty items for spring, featuring tarte! I hope to do more beauty reviews on Flashes of Style. If you guys have any requests let me know!

  Xoxo,

Lost & Found

02 March 2015

The snow is finally melting and I'm waiting for the sun to come out.

Like I promised, I am finally back with outfit posts, kicking it off with this schoolgirl-inspired look. It's no secret that I am an absolute sucker for any sort of statement collar. I particularly love a sweet peter pan, however a crisp pointed collar like this one is a close second. The dress is so simple so I styled it up with these polka dot tights and cute little bow flats. Also I couldn't resist adding this red hat... I pretty much always have to have at least a little bit of color in all of my outfits. As for this polaroid camera, I found it at a thrift store the other day and couldn't resist giving it a try. Who knows if it will work, but I've always been a glass-is-half-full girl, so I am hoping for the best! Plus it made a whimsical little prop.

Anyway, I hope you all are having a wonderful Monday!

xoxo,

Bonnie

Hello March, Hello World: 35mm series

01 March 2015

A new month, is a fresh start...

Hello again, lovely blog friends! It's been a moment, hasn't it? I apologize for my long pause from blogging, but I decided to start fresh with the month of March for many reasons.

On the lighter side, t's one of my favorite months. If you're lucky, the weather starts to get a bit warmer, trees start to blossom, and flowers start to bloom. Winter's gloominess begins to fade away and things all around seem just a bit brighter. On another note however, the reason for my pause is not-so-fun. I am not quite ready to get into the details of it all yet ( I swear one day I will ) , but what I'm willing do delve into now is bluntly this: After seven ( has it really already been S-E-V-E-N?!) wonderful years of blogging, I hit some sort of wall. My inspiration was fading for some inexplicable reason... a writer's block if you will. The truth is, I am only human and I was mentally exhausted. Life's stresses got the better of me, and keeping up with the blog I have loved for so long just was not at the top of my priority list. When I invite people to my page, I want to fill your eyes with beauty. I want to share life's wonderful moments and leave you feeling happy with those warm fuzzy feelings. But alas, life is not always that way and I am just like all of you. Boyfriends, break-ups, being completely broke, fights with friends, questioning my life's existance... as a 20 something, these are problems I face too. So while I was, let's say 'figuring my life out', I decided to take a break from blogging since my heart just wasn't fully in it.

A month later it's crazy for me to even write this because after my little hiatus, I've taken a step back, traveled back to Texas for a bit, spent the month reflecting on what i DO have. I traveled around the state with friends, reviving my mind, body and soul. No, things still aren't perfect, I am still figuring things out ( I don't know if I ever won't be) , but I feel completely refreshed. Like after a long pause my whole spirit finally hit play again. I can genuinely say that I feel happier than I have in a long time. And with all that happiness I want to share it all with you, the way I used to! I have many things planned to share with you all this March. Including two exciting trips that I plan to document fully, my beauty routines, 35 mm photography, music I am currently into, my thrifting secrets, and of course my daily outfits!

I've always said that I am trying to find beauty in everything. What I have been doing this last month is finding beauty in myself.

Into the Wild

08 January 2015

Oh boy has it been a while! I have to say...

I have missed you all so much! I know my absence was quite a long one. Maybe a bit too long, but what can I say... after almost five years of blogging I needed just a bit of a break to gather inspiration and just have a bit of a cleanse. It's been a strange past month with it's ups and downs. But I have started the new year with a clear head and goals to make it the best year yet! I just got back to NYC from a refreshing trip to Texas where I got to spend time with friends and family. Now I am back in my favorite city in the world, ready to kick this years butt!

I am starting off my first post year with a partnership from DailyLook! This adorable native-inspired coat is from their site, a piece I knew I had to have! I love the faux-fur lining and have been rocking it on these super cold nyc days we have been having. Anyway, expect to see a lot more of me this month! Cannot wait to share with you all everything I have in store.

xoxo,

Bonnie
