Apple Picking Day

15 October 2012

Slowly but surely, everything on my Fall festivities to-do list is being checked off. A big must on that list was apple-picking in the beautiful east coast country side. Yesterday a group of friends and I went upstate to a farm full of autumn goodness. Luscious apples, a pumpkin patch, hayrides, apple cider, delicious pies, and basically everything else that makes this time of year so magical. We walked the fields in search of the most perfect apples, finding picking them straight off the ground to be the best method. One of my favorite things about the trip was simply having some time away from the city. Sometimes driving in a car with friends, blasting tunes down the highway is exactly what you need.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend as well!

PS- If you have not yet checked out the Paul Mitchell #CurlsConfession video I did a few weeks back, see it here! Submit your #CurlsConfession to their facebook page to join in on the fun.

One of my grandmothers had a couple of apple trees in her back garden and I used to love going over to visit her at this time of year. She passed away when I was young but during autumn, when I see the apples of the trees I always think of her.

These photos are beautiful, sounds like a perfect day xo

The variety and abundance of apples in upstate New York is incredible. Almost any variety of apple there is you can find upstate. Some of my own favorites for eating are the MacIntosh and the Golden Delicious, but for baking pies my mother always said that Greening Aples and Northern Spies are the best varieties. They have a certain tartness that sweetens and brings a full flavour to pies and tarts. Then again I'm sure she never tried them all. There are so many. The pies upstate must be tasty. Yep, it's pumpkin time too :)

I love your dress. It's pretty. Your upstate trip sounds like fun.
