Black & Blue

12 July 2010

Hello hello! I made a quick outfit post today
wearing something other than florals, wahoo.
Also, I got this belt today from a lovely 60
year old woman getting rid of her AMAZING
vintage wardrobe. So wonderful. Also: I straightened my hair
(kinda) for the first time in a long time. What
do ya think?

I do not have very much
at all to say today, except that I am going to Chicago in
a little over a week. So with that said, anyone who has
recommendations for things to do in the city, please
let me know! And of course, I'd love to know about
any cool vintage shops.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I can't
believe it's already the middle of July.

wearing: H&M dress; vintage belt & bag; Xhiliration wedges.

Hi Bonnie,
Beautiful outfit! Your style is so classy. And I would definitely recommend going to The Chicago Diner, it's all vegetarian and/or vegan. I'm a vegan, so it's great. And it's really got a nice laid-back vibe. Hope you have fun, it's one of my favorite cities.

Oh shoot, and I forgot to mention...definitely go to Land of the Lost. It's a fun thrift store, full of crazy t-shirts. But it's quite small. They have a bit of odd store times too.

Yayy, thank you Kelly! These both sound like places I'd love.

Love that dress, you know what you should do in Chicago? Eat. I went there once and all I did was eat since I was little and didn't know much about shopping. So this was kind of a useless advice. Anywhooo, hope you have loads of fun.

That dress is so lovely (I adore the back!) and it hangs well with the belt; great combination there.

Also, I can't believe it's the middle of July already either. 2010 is just going by way too quickly.

When I clicked on this, I did notice that you straightened your hair. Then I was like, wait, did she change it and I didn't even stop by and notice?

It looks great.

Those jeans are perfect on you, and the belt is a nice kick of colour.

XXs,

Hello, I never really leave comments on your blog, but i absolutely love all of your outfits, and this one is just as adorable.
But as far as Chicago goes I would say to definitely go to Ragstock. They have newer stuff alongside used/vintage stuff and I've found amazing coats and scarves there. (They have a huge crate of old silk scarves for $2.00 each)
I would also go to Hollywood Mirror. It's right underneath Ragstock, and a little bit crazy inside, but you can find some pretty cute things as well if you search long enough. They also have a few vintage magazines that I've cut up and turned into collages before and they are really funny to look through!
As far as places to eat goes, there are a ton, but my personal favorite is The Grand Lux Cafe on Michigan Avenue. It's a little pricy, but totally worth it, and it's a good place to go for both meat-eaters and vegetarians! (They don't have very many vegetarian options, but I'm a vegetarian and can ALWAYS find something to eat there.)
I hope this helps!

I'd like to rename this blog Flushes of Style - down the drain. Really though, your sad excuse for style is obviously unoriginal and copies others without doing them justice. Not only that but you counter this by boasting excessively about your personal life. I've truly tried to appreciate what you're doing here but it comes off as way too self-centered and self-fulfilling. And the worst part is you having nothing to be proud of about it. You're a twat that cares only about buying (and showing off) clothing. You're a product of the disgusting american consumer culture.
