Sky High with Sole Society

16 November 2012

It is no secret that I have a bit of an obsession with shoes. I mean what girl doesn't right? Platform booties have been on my fall lust list for quite sometime now so I was super excited when I found these on SoleSociety.com , a new website stocked with adorable shoes galore in more styles than you can imagine. What really gets me about Sole Society is the quality they offer for such a reasonable price (we're talking genuine leather/suede at less than $50 a pop). Other perks include their free shipping and the fact that new items added every single day.

Anyway, in honor of their new designs launching by Julliane Hough, their first celebrity collection, Sole Society is offering you  lovely readers 20$ off your first purchase until Dec.15th by using the discount code FOS20 ! So go ahead, get to shopping here!

Winter Layers

12 November 2012

Have I ever mentioned how much I love socks? Well it is true, I certainly do! Once it begins to get as cold as it is these days, my sock collection comes out to play. knee highs, thigh highs, slipper socks... I love them all! My favorite way to wear them is pairing them with some cozy boots over some jeans or leggings for extra warmth. I have an assortment of colors, patterns and textures and love to collect more each fall/winter season.

Anyway, I have been quite attached to this hat by Otte, an NYC-based brand. It has been my go-to for messy hair days, and had really become a fall staple of mine. The honey brown color just fits in perfectly with my Autumn wardrobe. What's your favorite fall accessory?

Hope you all have a lovely Monday!

November Inspiration Board

07 November 2012

I am truly such an Autumn child. I cannot stop looking up Fall/Winter inspiration so I decided to share some of my favorite picks with you all. Sometime before Christmas I totally plan on renting a cabin upstate and having some relaxing days in beautiful nature. In the meantime a snow storm is headed towards NYC, so I am stocking up on all the tea, coffee and cozy knits in the world. Mother Nature sure isn't giving us a break here on the East Coast, but hey. Might as well make the most of the weather that's given to us!

Hope you all are having a fantastic week.

All-American

02 November 2012

Oh boy, can you believe it is November already? I sure can't. Quite fittingly so, yesterday was the very first day I could see my breath in the cold brisk air. I bundled up in my favorite flannel top, cozy cotton skirt, wool coat and to top it off this hand-knit bow from an old friend. One of my favorite fall color palettes is actually a combination of the primary colors, so here I let that be the focus of my outfit. There's something so classic about it. Anyway, the layering possibilities are endless this time of year and I cannot wait to play with my wardrobe and re-mix all my summery clothes to winter.

Hope you all are having a great week and Happy Friday! I am still safe and sound from the storm and I hope all my fellow east-coasters are slowly picking up the pieces who got hit hard by Sandy. Downtown is still a mess and I cannot wait until we can get completely past the damage from the storm. Remember you can always donate to those affected through the Red Cross here

DIY // Make Your Own Floral Crown!

16 October 2012

Lately many of you have been asking me how exactly I make those floral crowns that I have been wearing recently. I have gotten a few requests asking if I could make a tutorial, so I decided to make a simple post on how to make this DIY headband! So here we go...

First you will need a flower arrangement (real of fake) of your choice. If you are using fake flowers, I find that silk ones work best as they look the most realistic. You will also need a headband to wrap the flowers around, wire to attach them, and a hot glue gun to tidy up the floral frown for a finishing look.

The first step is to cut off a flower, leaving about 5 centimeters of stem. This is necessary when attaching the flower to to the headband. Next you will cut off a piece of wire, about 6 inches long. Begin to wrap the wire around the stem of the flower, leaving a bit of slack. Then you will wrap the extra piece of wire around headband, with the stem on the bottom side of the band. Repeat until you have as many flowers as you'd like on the headband. Now here is where the hot glue gun comes into play. There may be visible wire when you wear the headband. If so, glue down petals around the showing wire in order to hide them. I am sure there is a way to do this to make the floral crown of a bit more quality, but I find this the easiest and quickest way.

So there you have it! A floral crown to make you feel sweet and pretty on these cold/gloomy winter days to come. I know I will be wearing mine all year round... with chunky knits now and with a cute sundress later. PS- These little floral crowns I have been making are totally inspired by the lovely blogger K is For Kani. She had an etsy shop where she sells so many lovely pieces. If you are like  me and get a bit impatient to make your own and just want to buy one, check out the ones she has for sale here.

Hope you all enjoyed this little DIY! Stay tuned for   more.

29 September 2012

A good brogue is something that I have been in search of for quite some time now. It is one of those accessories that goes with just about anything and is the perfect classic touch in my opinion. I had a pair that lasted me two years but I decided to retire them a few months ago once they were practically unwearable. So these babies are my new go-to brogues. They are a from a brand called Vintage Shoe Company and I must say I am absolutely smitten with their collection. When it comes to shoes I am all about quality and these shoes totally surpass all of my expectations. Finally my brogues search is over!

Anyway, I hope you all are having a fantastic Saturday. Enjoy the last weekend of September. October, I welcome you with open arms.
